Arsenal could appoint their replacement for Arsene Wenger very shortly.
Massimiliano Allegri was considered the favourite just a few days ago, but he has been unable to come to an agreement with Arsenal chiefs.
And after talks between the two camps stalled, Allegri announced to the world his attention to stay at Juventus.
So, who is now the favourite?
The front-runner is now none other than Mikel Arteta.
The Spaniard featured for Arsenal in his playing career, playing at the club for five seasons.
It has been heavily rumoured that he would be a strong contender for the job, but it now looks almost certain that he will be the man to replace Wenger.
The Independent have reported that the 36-year-old is 'very close to becoming Arsenal manager.'
On the whole, Arsenal fans are less than impressed with the pending appointment of Arteta.
He has only been a coach for two years and has had no experience in management – not even at youth level.
But Arteta could be about to do something that may win the support of his doubters
The Independent go on to suggest that Arteta will seek to bring in at least three of his own appointments if given the job.
And it is believed that he would offer a coaching role to former teammate and fan-favourite, Santi Cazorla.
With Cazorla's contract running out in the summer, many are worried that they will be losing a player which has won the hearts of Arsenal fans.
But it seems Arteta is keen to keep his countryman on at the club by offering him a player/coach role, similar to the one that Michael Carrick fulfilled this season at Manchester United.
Many are doubting whether Arteta is the right man to lead the club after Wenger's departure.
But by giving a coaching role to a fan-favourite, his Arsenal tenure would at least be off to a promising start..
