John Isner achieved the best result of his season so far at the Miami Open reaching quarter-finals after getting past the world no. 3 Marin Cilic in straight sets, 7-6(0), 6-3.
Isner played a very good match, hitting 12 aces and winning 85% first serve points. Still, he admitted that could have done better in some moments of the match. 'It's easy to get frustrated out there and at times there was some pretty ugly tennis out there but I kept holding onto my serve and never panicked at any point in that match,' Isner told Sky Sports.
'And for sure, I played my best match that I've played all year because it's been a pretty poor year up until this point.'
Still, Isner sees the positive side, which is definitely bright: 'I certainly served better today.
I was up against the number three player in the world so extremely happy with how I played today, extremely happy with how calm and collected I was on the court because the conditions were tough.'
