Roberto Mancini arrived in Rome this afternoon and is expected to hold talks for the Italy job, especially after bitterly criticising Zenit.
The Coach flew in to Fiumicino airport from St Petersburg and was filmed by camera crews, but did not give any comments.
There were reports he had overtaken Carlo Ancelotti, Gigi Di Biagio and Antonio Conte to become the favourite for the Nazionale role.
He seemed to back that up in yesterday’s tense Press conference, when bitterly criticising players – including several by name – and Zenit hierarchy.
“My friend, I don’t need this money. If I decide to leave, then I’ll leave. I don’t want money from Zenit. I am trying to do my work with people who listen to me, not who do whatever they want and just buy players left, right and centre wherever they feel like it.”
