Teenager Amanda Anisimova stuns Petra Kvitova at the BNP Paribas Open

American teenager Amanda Anisimova claimed the biggest win of her career by dumping two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova out of the BNP Paribas Open on Sunday.

Contesting just her fifth professional match, 16-year-old Anisimova played well above her world ranking of 149 to win 6-2 6-4 in just over an hour in Indian Wells.

Kvitova came into the event on a 14-match winning streak, the joint-longest of her career, after claiming back-to-back titles in St Petersburg and Doha.

But she was brought down to earth with a bump by wild card Anisimova, who has yet to drop a set and becomes the first 16-year-old to reach the fourth round at Indian Wells since 2005.
