Might Bite's part-owner David Minton has revealed the Gold Cup favourite will miss Newbury to focus on the Cheltenham Festival.
Nicky Henderson's star had been expected to feature this weekend at Newbury before heading on to Prestbury Park in March, but connections have decided to keep the talented runner fresh for the Festival.
Minton claims he never expected to see Might Bite in action before Cheltenham and feels Henderson is content to have his charge fresh and ready for the highly-anticipated Gold Cup on March 16.
He said: "As far as I was concerned he was never really going to run this weekend, it was just at the back of our minds in case Nicky felt he needed another run.
"Nicky has basically always been happy to go straight there with him.
"We've seen several potential rivals fail to boost their claims and he's shortened up a bit without running."
