The rise of Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen to the top of Formula One has officially begun, and he is still just 20 years old.
In the 2015 Formula One season, Max Verstappen made his debut in the sport as a driver for Scuderia Toro Rosso, the Red Bull Racing junior team, at the young age of 17.
He finished in 12th place in the final drivers standings with top finishes of 4th place in the Hungarian Grand Prix and the United States Grand Prix.
The following season, Verstappen opened up the season driving for Toro Rosso once again.
But after the fourth race of the season, the Russian Grand Prix, Daniil Kvyat was demoted from Red Bull Racing to Toro Rosso, and Verstappen took over his spot.
In his first race driving for his new team, the Spanish Grand Prix, Verstappen won his first career Formula One race at age 18, becoming the youngest winner of a Formula One race in the sport’s history — by far.
He went on to finish in 5th place in the final drivers standings with six more podium finishes, including four 2nd place finishes, but no wins throughout the remainder of the season.
