Haydn Porteous played his first nine holes in five under to open up a one-shot lead early on day one of the Turkish Airlines Open at Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort.

Leading contenders Tommy Fleetwood and Justin Rose are both in action this week but it was Porteous who grabbed the early headlines with five birdies to lead the way from Nicolas Colsaerts.

Starting from the 11th he made three birdies in a row and added further gains at the 15th and 17th.
Belgian Colsaerts played the front nine in 30 with birdies on the fourth, seventh, eighth and ninth.
BMW International Open champion Andres Romero was then at three under after four birdies and a bogey in his first nine holes, alongside Eddie Pepperell who had birdies on the 11th, 12th and 16th in his first eight holes.
Home amateur Taner Yamac was then in a group at two under containing Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Austin Connelly, Joost Luiten, Matthieu Pavon, Jordan Smith, Hideto Tanihara and Chris Wood.
