The first event, although not official, that will kick off the new year is the Mubadala World Tennis Championship exhibition in Abu Dhabi.
On Thursday, December 28 Stan Wawrinka, who never reached the final here on four appearances, will face Pablo Carreno Busta, who is making the first appearance.
On Friday, the winner will face the four-time winner Rafael Nadal, who is making the ninth appearance.
The second "quarter-final" will be played between Dominic Thiem and Milos Raonic.

On Saturday, the fourth-third place final and Championship match will take place. Here below full schedule, the champion earns $250,000 prize money.
