Phil Mickelson has been voted as the world's best known golfer and fifth most famous sports athlete, according to a survey by ESPN.
The ranking was based on the combination of endorsement dollars, social media following and Google search popularity. But given Mickelson isn't even on social media, we find that a little hard to believe.
While us golf folk know exactly how popular Mickelson is with his home crowds, you'd like to think more people would have heard of Tiger Woods than any other golfer on the planet?
You'd probably even throw Rory McIlroy above Mickelson wouldn't you?
According to ESPN’s director of analytics, Ben Alamar, the survey also took into account information from ESPN journalists in Australia, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil, China, India, Mexico and the United Kingdom. Apparently, there are many 'Lefty' wing supporters.
So where did Tiger and Rory rank, I hear you ask?
Well Tiger was second of the golfers, ranking 10th in the list of world's famous sports athletes, with McIlroy up next and in 14th in the overall standings.
Other golfers to make the top 100 included Jordan Spieth (17), Dustin Johnson (43), Sergio Garcia (58), Rickie Fowler (62), Justin Rose (73), Jason Day (84), Bubba Watson (94) and Adam Scott (98).
So no sign of Beef yet. That probably won't be long.
