Aric Almirola has been released from the hospital after suffering a compression fracture of his T5 vertebra in Saturday's Go Bowling 400 at Kansas Speedway, NASCAR announced.
Almirola was mobile and will follow up on his injury with doctors in Charlotte following the fiery three-car crash late in Saturday night's race.
Almirola was conscious and speaking with safety crews as he was placed on a backboard and taken via helicopter to a local hospital. Richard Petty Motorsports released a statement clarifying he was in stable condition as he stayed at the hospital overnight for observation.
Joey Logano appeared to get loose after a right-front issue with 68 laps remaining and got into the right rear of Danica Patrick's car, sending her into the wall. Logano then got smashed by Almirola, who was unable to swerve away from the wreck in front of him.
Logano and Patrick were able walk away from the wreck, but their cars were mangled and had to be towed off the track.
