WATCH WEST VIRGINIA HAVE THE WORST FINAL POSSESSION IN BASKETBALL HISTORY

West Virginia played Gonzaga extremely tough in the Sweet Sixteen Thursday night, but blew it with an unreal final possession.

West Virginia was down three with about thirty seconds remaining in the game. Instead of trying to penetrate the defense for a quick two and make the game a free throw contest, the Mountaineers decided having Jevon Carter jacking up threes was a better idea.

It only got worse from there. Carter got the ball off of another offensive rebound and nearly dribbled the entire game clock out before passing the ball off to a player unable to shoot.

WATCH:

Unbelievably bad.

Selfish play and poor game planning isn’t a great way to win games. If I were a coach I’d show that final possession to my team many times. Just flat-out painful to watch.
