Greg Hardy will not be going to prison for cocaine possession after striking a plea deal on Friday with prosecutors reducing his felony drug possession charge to a misdemeanor.
The former NFL star was arrested in late September in Dallas when police pulled him over after he failed to use his signal while turning, according to TMZ Sports. Hardy claimed he didn’t have anything illegal in the car and allowed the police to search the vehicle.
During the search, police found a bag with just under one gram of cocaine in Hardy’s wallet. Of course, Hardy claimed it wasn’t his, but was indicted on one count of felony possession of a controlled substance.
The former NFL player, who is now training as an MMA fighter, was sentenced to just two years of unsupervised probation and had to pay some fines, but could have faced up to two years in prison if convicted.
